Land transport and base support

Road, rail and multimodal movement, and running the site at the far end

Defence cargo rarely fails at the loading point. It fails at a border, in a weighbridge queue, or at a bridge that will not carry the axle load. The route decides whether the schedule survives contact with the map.

We plan the route and the customs regime as one problem. Where a deployment needs a site rather than a delivery, we run the site: accommodation, catering, water, power and waste.

What this covers, in full

Transport

  • Road, rail and multimodal movement of defence cargo
  • Convoy coordination
  • Abnormal and heavy load movement

Customs

  • Customs clearance
  • ATA carnets and temporary importation for exercises
  • Sanctions screening across the transport chain

Storage and maintenance

  • Warehousing and forward stock holding
  • Vehicle maintenance and workshop support

Base and camp

  • Camp erection and site preparation
  • Catering, laundry and accommodation
  • Water, power generation and waste management

Exercises

  • Host nation support
  • Support to multinational exercises

How the work runs, in three steps

  1. Survey the route before quoting it

Axle limits, tunnel and bridge restrictions, escort requirements and the condition of the final stretch are checked on the ground. The final stretch is usually what decides the vehicle.

  2. Choose the customs regime first

Temporary importation, carnet or permanent entry. The wrong regime is slow and expensive to correct once the cargo is already inside the country.

  3. Position stock forward

Where the movement plan leaves no slack, materiel is placed near the point of use in advance rather than moved on the day. Storage costs less than a missed exercise.

Across every area

What comes with the work, whatever the operation is

These are not a separate service line and they are not charged as one.

One point of contact
A named coordinator holds the file across ports, countries and service lines, and does not hand it on halfway through.
Screening and counterparty checks
Suppliers and subcontractors are checked against sanctions lists before use, and their ownership is rechecked when it changes.
Anti-bribery applied outward
The policy binds our suppliers as well as us. Where a payment is expected that we will not make, the client hears about it.
Tenders and framework agreements
Support to tender submissions, and management of the framework once it is in place, including its reporting obligations.
Cost control and consolidated billing
Costs broken down by port call, mission or deployment. One invoice, with every underlying document available behind it.
Insurance and risk
Insurance coordination including war risk, and risk assessment for personnel movements into difficult jurisdictions.

Ports, airfields, dates, volumes. Whatever is fixed so far is enough to start from.
