Naval and port support

Port calls for warships and state vessels, held as a single file

A warship arriving in a foreign port has no purchasing department at the quayside. Berth, pilotage, customs, fresh water, waste reception, stores and crew movements all have to be arranged before arrival, by someone who already knows what that particular port will and will not accept.

We act as agent and hold the whole call. The ship deals with one coordinator. The port authority, the pilots, the customs office and the suppliers deal with us.

What this covers, in full

Port call coordination

  • Berth booking, pilotage, towage and mooring
  • Customs and immigration clearance for ship and crew
  • Liaison with force protection and port security
  • Fresh water supply and delivery of stores

Waste and environmental

  • MARPOL waste, sludge and black water removal
  • Segregation and disposal records for the port and the flag state

Technical and repair

  • Repair coordination and dry dock arrangements
  • Spare parts delivery and customs clearance

Crew

  • Crew changes, flights, hotels and ground transport
  • Medical assistance and medical evacuation

Financial

  • Cash to master
  • Disbursement account management and consolidated invoicing

Chartering

  • Tugs, barges and support vessels

How the work runs, in three steps

  1. Check what the port can take

Draught, berth length, waste reception capacity and the security arrangement are confirmed against the vessel before the call is committed, not discovered on arrival.

  2. Contract the chain before arrival

Pilots, tugs, customs agents, suppliers and transport are engaged in advance in our name. The ship signs for what it receives, not for what it has had to arrange itself.

  3. Close the call on paper

Waste receipts, delivery notes and the disbursement account are reconciled and issued together, in the form an auditor will ask for.

Across every area

What comes with the work, whatever the operation is

These are not a separate service line and they are not charged as one.

One point of contact
A named coordinator holds the file across ports, countries and service lines, and does not hand it on halfway through.
Screening and counterparty checks
Suppliers and subcontractors are checked against sanctions lists before use, and their ownership is rechecked when it changes.
Anti-bribery applied outward
The policy binds our suppliers as well as us. Where a payment is expected that we will not make, the client hears about it.
Tenders and framework agreements
Support to tender submissions, and management of the framework once it is in place, including its reporting obligations.
Cost control and consolidated billing
Costs broken down by port call, mission or deployment. One invoice, with every underlying document available behind it.
Insurance and risk
Insurance coordination including war risk, and risk assessment for personnel movements into difficult jurisdictions.
